My Weekly Routine

My name is Kerem, and I am thirty-four years old. I live in Eskişehir and work as a baker. My family has a small bakery near the city center. My job is tiring because I wake up very early, but I enjoy making fresh bread and cakes.

My week starts on Monday. I wake up at four thirty in the morning. First, I drink a cup of tea and walk to the bakery. At five o’clock, I start making bread. My father usually arrives a little later and helps me. By seven o’clock, the bakery is full of the smell of fresh bread.

Tuesday is usually a quieter day. I make bread, simit, and some pastries. In the afternoon, I finish work at about three o’clock. When I get home, I often take a short nap because I am very tired. In the evening, I sometimes meet my friends for tea.

On Wednesday, we make cakes too. Customers often order birthday cakes in the middle of the week. I like decorating cakes, but I am not very good at drawing names with chocolate. Sometimes the letters look terrible. My sister laughs and says, “Maybe you should only make bread!”

Thursday is shopping day. After work, I go to the market and buy flour, eggs, butter, chocolate, and other things for the bakery. I always make a list because I forget things easily. Last week, I forgot the eggs and had to go back to the shop!

Friday is very busy. Many people buy bread and desserts for the weekend. I usually work until five o’clock. My feet hurt at the end of the day, but I feel happy when the bakery is busy.

Saturday is our busiest day. I wake up at four o’clock and make extra bread, cakes, and pastries. Sometimes we sell everything before the afternoon.

We close the bakery on Sunday. I sleep until nine or ten o’clock, have a long breakfast, and spend time with my family. If the weather is nice, I ride my bicycle or sit in a café.

My week starts very early, and I work hard. But I love my job. Every morning, when I see people buying warm bread, I feel proud of what I do.
