Farmers’ Market

📖 Hikaye

It is Saturday morning, and I wake up early. I open the kitchen window and look outside. The weather is sunny and warm.

I want to make a fresh lunch today, but my fridge is almost empty. So I write a short shopping list: tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggs, cheese, and some fruit.

Before I leave home, I take my big green market bag. I really like this bag because I can use it many times.

The farmers’ market is only ten minutes from my house, so I walk there. When I arrive, the market is already busy. People are walking between the stalls, sellers are talking to customers, and children are carrying small bags.

First, I stop at a vegetable stall.

“Good morning! How much are the tomatoes?” I ask.

“They are two euros a kilo,” the farmer says.

I look at the tomatoes carefully and choose five red ones. The farmer weighs them and puts them in my bag.

At the next stall, I see cucumbers and green peppers. I pick three cucumbers and four peppers.

Then I smell something sweet.

“What is that?” I ask.

“Fresh strawberries,” a woman says. “Would you like to taste one?”

I try a strawberry.

“Oh, it’s delicious!” I say.

So I buy a small box.

Next, I walk to a cheese stall. I taste two different kinds of cheese and choose the softer one. I also buy six eggs.

My market bag is getting heavy now.

Suddenly, an apple falls from another customer’s bag and rolls under a table. I notice it, pick it up, and give it back to the woman.

“Thank you!” she says.

“You’re welcome,” I reply.

Before I go home, I buy a loaf of fresh bread. I pay for it, put it carefully on top of the vegetables, and carry my full market bag home.

At home, I empty the bag onto the kitchen table. Everything looks fresh and colorful.

I smile and start preparing lunch.

Going to the farmers’ market takes a little more time than going to a supermarket. But I enjoy meeting local farmers, choosing fresh food, and carrying everything home in my favorite green bag.

Cumartesi sabahı ve ben erken uyanıyorum. Mutfak penceresini açıyorum ve dışarı bakıyorum. Hava güneşli ve sıcak.

Bugün taze bir öğle yemeği hazırlamak istiyorum ama buzdolabım neredeyse boş. Bu yüzden kısa bir alışveriş listesi yazıyorum: domates, salatalık, biber, yumurta, peynir ve biraz meyve.

Evden çıkmadan önce büyük yeşil pazar çantamı alıyorum. Bu çantayı gerçekten seviyorum çünkü onu birçok kez kullanabiliyorum.

Çiftçi pazarı evimden sadece on dakika uzaklıkta, bu yüzden oraya yürüyorum. Vardığımda pazar çoktan kalabalık. İnsanlar tezgâhların arasında yürüyor, satıcılar müşterilerle konuşuyor ve çocuklar küçük çantalar taşıyor.

İlk olarak bir sebze tezgâhında duruyorum.

“Günaydın! Domatesler ne kadar?” diye soruyorum.

“Kilosu iki euro,” diyor çiftçi.

Domateslere dikkatlice bakıyorum ve beş tane kırmızı domates seçiyorum. Çiftçi onları tartıyor ve çantama koyuyor.

Bir sonraki tezgahta salatalık ve yeşil biber görüyorum. Üç salatalık ve dört biber seçiyorum.

Sonra tatlı bir koku alıyorum.

“Bu nedir?” diye soruyorum.

“Taze çilek,” diyor bir kadın. “Bir tane tatmak ister misin?”

Bir çilek tadıyorum.

“Ah, çok lezzetli!” diyorum.

Bu yüzden küçük bir kutu satın alıyorum.

Sonra bir peynir tezgâhına yürüyorum. İki farklı peynir çeşidini tadıyorum ve daha yumuşak olanı seçiyorum. Ayrıca altı yumurta satın alıyorum.

Pazar çantam artık ağırlaşmaya başlıyor.

Birden başka bir müşterinin çantasından bir elma düşüyor ve bir masanın altına doğru yuvarlanıyor. Bunu fark ediyorum, elmayı yerden alıyorum ve kadına geri veriyorum.

“Teşekkür ederim!” diyor kadın.

“Rica ederim,” diye cevap veriyorum.

Eve gitmeden önce bir somun taze ekmek alıyorum. Parasını ödüyorum, ekmeği dikkatlice sebzelerin üzerine koyuyorum ve dolu pazar çantamı eve taşıyorum.

Evde çantadaki her şeyi mutfak masasının üzerine çıkarıyorum. Her şey taze ve rengârenk görünüyor.

Gülümsüyorum ve öğle yemeğini hazırlamaya başlıyorum.

Çiftçi pazarına gitmek süpermarkete gitmekten biraz daha fazla zaman alıyor. Ama yerel çiftçilerle tanışmaktan, taze yiyecekler seçmekten ve her şeyi en sevdiğim yeşil çantamda eve taşımaktan keyif alıyorum.
